We are a group of adults from all over the world who have been diagnosed with bone sarcoma, a type of cancerous tumor that invades bone. These tumors make up about .2% of the cancer cases diagnosed each year, and they tend to occur in children, adolescents and young adults.
It is our mission to personally support other adults dealing with bone cancer diagnosis, treatment, and life beyond. We do this in two ways: by sharing our survival stories to give readers hope, and by communicating at the ABC Café support forum.
If you or a loved-one has been diagnosed with bone sarcoma, please seek a specialist who sees a large number of sarcoma patients each month. Consider visiting an NCI Cancer Center or a surgeon from the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society.
The stories menu (on the left) is organized by diagnosis. It's the first place to look when seeking specific information. When viewing a story, you will see related links on the side of the page. For example, when viewing a story about someone who had a tumor at the femur, there are links to stories of others who had femur tumors. It can be helpful to read the stories of patients who had tumors at the same location, even if their diagnosis was different.
The search box (on the left) is perfect for quickly locating a person or a specific topic.
Feel free to send a comment to someone who has helped or inspired you. Just look for the "send a comment" link at the bottom of the page.
The ABC Café
The café is an interactive forum for patients, survivors, and caregivers of adult patients. Visitors have access to the dealing with bone cancer area. This area contains resources and articles about treatment, doctors and hospitals, dealing with side effects, life after treatment, and more.
In order to protect members' privacy, most of our discussions are not visible to the public. If you choose to register to join the café, you will be asked to provide basic information about yourself, and then will have access to personal interaction between our members. The private boards are where we discuss our daily frustrations and joys while dealing with life during and after treatment. The café has a young, upbeat feel, despite the heavy issues we sometimes discuss.
Your story
If you have completed your initial treatment for bone sarcoma, please consider sharing your story at ABC Survivors. Visitors will find your story when they search for a certain type of tumor or treatment, and it will provide information and encouragement. Share your story here.
